Privacy Policy

TherapyKit ("we", "us", "our") provides digital tools for music therapists. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.

What we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address. If you sign in with Google, we also receive the basic profile details Google shares, such as your name. Sign-in is handled securely by Google Firebase Authentication.

A few details about you

After you first sign in, we ask for your name, country and role (for example, music therapist or student), and whether you would like to receive updates from us. These are for our own reference, so we know where TherapyKit is being used and who it is helping. They are never shown to other users or made public. Your name, country and role are needed to create an account; receiving updates is optional.

Messages you send us

If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message. These are delivered to us by email through FormSubmit (formsubmit.co) and used only to reply to you.

Usage information

We use Google Analytics to understand how TherapyKit is used: which pages and tools are opened, how often, and for how long, along with general technical details such as device and browser type and approximate location (country or city). We look at this information in aggregate, to keep the service working and decide what to improve. We do not send your name or email address to Google Analytics.

Content you create

Many TherapyKit tools save the content you create, such as boards, recordings and settings, locally in your browser on your own device. This stays on your device unless a tool states otherwise.

How we use your information

To provide and maintain your account and access to the tools, to operate, secure and improve TherapyKit, and to respond to your enquiries. Your country and role help us understand who uses TherapyKit and which tools to build next.

Email updates

If you opt in, we will occasionally email you about new tools and features. We only send these emails if you have opted in, and every email includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also opt out at any time by contacting us.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We use trusted service providers, including Google Firebase and Google Cloud to run sign-in and hosting, and Google Analytics to measure usage; their handling of data is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We may disclose information where required by law.

Storage and security

Account data is stored using Google Firebase services. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, though no online service can be completely secure.

Children and clients

TherapyKit is designed to be used by therapists and practitioners. Where tools are used with clients, including children, the practitioner is responsible for obtaining any consent needed and for the content they create. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

Your choices and rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or ask us to remove your account, by contacting us at the address below.

Cookies and local storage

TherapyKit uses browser storage to keep you signed in and to save tool content on your device. Google Analytics also uses cookies to count visits and measure time spent on the site. You can clear or block these at any time through your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out add-on.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page.
